Enroll in MTCompare, Medical Records Institute’s
(MRI) new program that will help medical transcription businesses
reach hospitals, clinics, physician practices, and other healthcare
providers looking to outsource medical transcription.
MT businesses that enroll in the program will complete a
questionnaire, which MRI will make freely available to the
healthcare community in a format that allows them to compare
and contrast their options.
Questionnaire topics include
• Business demographics
• Contact information for prospective client follow-up
• Business disclosures (e.g., type of ownership, years
in business)
• Personnel (number of FTEs, onsite/offsite, etc.)
• Transcription services (inpatient/outpatient, specialties,
hours of service, etc.)
• Other services (e.g., training, billing/coding)
• Management reports (topics, frequency)
• Cost/quantity issues (e.g., base unit, availability
of verification mechanism)
• Hardware/software requirements
• Style/quality
• RFPs
• Contract topics (not details)
• Policies/procedures (not details)
Many questions can be answered by YES or NO, with or without
comments. Others require a brief narrative answer. We ask
only for general (not proprietary) information, e.g., “Do
you have documented backup policies/procedures?” NOT
“What are your backup policies/procedures?” If
a company prefers, it may decline to answer any question.
To enroll, complete and submit the Agreement and Terms &
Conditions forms along with your payment (fees range from
$150 to $1200, according to self-declared annual revenues).
You will then be given a password to the online questionnaire
outlined above.
After you submit the completed questionnaire, MRI will post
your responses on its MTCompare landing page so that
they can be freely accessed by prospective customers.

The low fee to enroll and the short time (est. 2 hours) you
invest in completing the questionnaire will expand your business’s
visibility to thousands of potential clients.
