Claudia Tessier
Vice President – Medical Records Institute

Claudia Tessier is an internationally recognized expert, speaker, writer, and consultant on healthcare documentation, the Continuity of Care Record (CCR) and electronic medical records (EMR). During her 18 years as CEO of the American Association for Medical Transcription (AAMT), she was instrumental in growing that industry to its current status as a $25 billion business with 400,000 MTs in the United States. Following that, as Executive Director of the Mobile Healthcare Alliance (MoHCA), she promoted the adoption of mobile devices and applications in healthcare in order to facilitate point of care access to, capture of, and transfer of health information and enhance patient safety.

In 2002, Ms Tessier’s organizational and leadership skills, as well as her expertise in healthcare documentation, led to her appointment as co-chair of the Continuity of Care Record Project, which is sponsored (among others) by ASTM International’s E31 Committee on Healthcare Informatics, the Massachusetts Medical Society, the American Academy of Family Practice, and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Claudia is one of the top experts on health information capture issues, including transcription, speech recognition, and all other methods of inputting health data into computers. She initially was affiliated with Medical Records Institute (MRI) as chair of its advisory board, and in 2006 became vice president of MRI, with responsibilities for education as well as executive management.
