TEPR Breaks Out of Traditional EMR Mold
2008 Conference Doubles in Size and Programming

Boston, Massachusetts - January 3, 2008
When TEPR (Towards the Electronic Patient Record) opens its doors on May 19, 2008 at the Ft. Lauderdale Convention Center, attendees will experience a newly designed and expanded conference that has grown beyond the EMR/EHR program that it established nearly 24 years ago. Breaking out of this pattern that is reflected in conferences throughout the industry, TEPR 2008 will explore emerging as well as traditional topics according to major categories of interest.

The 2008 program, developed by Medical Records Institute (MRI) CEO Peter Waegemann, will include twenty-two educational tracks and roughly 500 speakers addressing topics in 5 major categories: Hospitals, Payers, Physicians, Health IT Professionals, and Web-based Consumer Patient Systems including Digital Health Companions.

"TEPR 2008 will be known as both the most strategic and practical conference that is convenient and pleasant to attend and offers more stimulating content than any other conference" says Waegemann, who was recently named among the "20 People Who Make Healthcare Better" by HealthLeaders Magazine.

The Opening Session will be completely revamped along the theme "What will/should the next president do for Health IT." Other highlights include Microsoft's James Mault MD among the keynote speakers.

Designed as "The Strategic and Practical Health IT Conference," TEPR's manageable size and comprehensive education program will distinguish it from the hundreds of other HIT events hosted every year. By keeping the program dynamic up to a few months before the conference, TEPR assures an up-to-date Health IT program covering latest developments. At the same time, TEPR's mission "to promote and enhance the journey towards electronic medical records" remains as central to the conference as it was when it first opened its doors in 1985. Unique to that mission is TEPR's role in not just reporting but also stimulating HIT/EMR developments.

TEPR's educational sessions have long been acknowledged as the best, as reflected in a 2007 attendee's comment: "I've learned more pertinent knowledge (at TEPR) regarding EMRs in the last five days than I have from every other conference I've been to all put together - and I've been to HIMSS twice."

In 2008 TEPR will continue to be the best EMR/EHR conference, where the most relevant HIT topics are addressed, ranging from convenience clinics to medical specialties, from strategies for the hospital of the future to creating communities under Stark laws and more. In addition, TEPR will continue to host its annual awards, as well as feature a multitude of EMRCompare(SM) demonstrations, where vendors showcase the usability of their EMR systems.

The preliminary program may be viewed at www.tepr.com. For a limited time only, a series of free activities are offered to early registrants, including golf, sailing, biking, boating, etc. Now is the time to plan for TEPR. Visit MRI's website to view the complete program, for more information, or to register now at the discounted rate.
